WHY FOR THE MISSION? WHY NOW?

God is bringing men and women to Southeastern for a purpose. In fact, they are coming in historic numbers. Over the past nine years, we have experienced record-breaking growth. Today, we are the largest seminary on the east coast with over 4,200 students. We set an audacious enrollment goal of 5,000 students, we are at a critical juncture for the future.

With strategically allocated resources, Southeastern can continue to fulfill its mission by preparing the next generation of pastors, counselors and community leaders to serve in towns and cities in North Carolina, across the nation and around the world.

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

We believe that God has given Southeastern a distinct vision of being a school committed to training Christians for Great Commission work. Every year, we send 500 gospel-prepared warriors to join over 16,000 graduates who are on mission for Christ advancing the Kingdom of God.

We believe For the Mission will allow Southeastern to be more effective in her dedication to equip students to serve the church and fulfill the Great Commission.

“We are reliant on God in all we do. He has seen fit to not only rescue Southeastern during perilous times, but has provided the sustenance and given the increase only He could foresee. Our leadership and Board do not enter this campaign lightly. We will only pursue what we believe is central to what God has called us to do – to equip more and send more to reach more until He comes.”

FOR THE STUDENTS

STUDENT AID ENDOWMENTS - $1,500,000

While we strive to provide an unparalleled learning experience at an affordable cost, many hardworking students struggle to make ends meet. The majority of our students already work 30-hour weeks to fund their education and basic living expenses. We rely on friends like you to help ensure our students graduate without the encumbrance of debt.

In any academic year, approximately two-thirds of our student body may not receive student aid directly from Southeastern. This may force students to take fewer classes each semester which prolongs the length of their education, delays their graduation, and in some cases prevents their ability to achieve their ministry assignment.

STUDENT AID ENDOWMENTS WILL:
  • Provide financial support for students who meet the requirements

  • Enable students to graduate with reduced student loan debt

FOR THE FACULTY

ACADEMIC ENDOWMENTS - $3,000,000

Students are flocking to Southeastern in ever-increasing numbers to study with a team of professors who pour the ground-breaking truth of the gospel into their very lives. We want their minds to be sharp, we want them to excel in their field, and we want them to be theologically grounded. Most importantly, we want them to walk away with a disposition that points and compels them toward serving Christ.

Academic endowments are created for the purpose of generating future income in perpetuity in supporting the mission of Southeastern. They provide inflation-adjusted support for faculty positions, academic centers, and vital academic initiatives.

ACADEMIC ENDOWMENTS WILL:
  • Recruit and retain world-class scholars to train the next generation of pastors and missionaries

  • Benefit countless students for generations to come while keeping Southeastern accessible to qualified students

  • Provide support for academic centers in their missions to equip people to engage in missions, in culture, and in pastoral leadership

FOR THE CAMPUS

DINING HALL CONSTRUCTION - $4,800,000

With an anticipated 150% increase in the undergraduate student population over the next 10 years and a continued graduate population growth of 35%, a full-service dining facility is a pressing need. The dining hall will be located behind the Ledford Student Center.

By providing on-campus dining service, students can focus more time and effort on their studies, jobs, families and ministries.

DINING HALL CONSTRUCTION WILL:
  • Improve the overall student experience by expanding on campus meal options.
  • Provide dedicated banquet and event space and limit the necessity  of utilizing off-campus facilities for hosting large events.
SIMMONS HALL RENOVATION - $3,700,000

Simmons Hall is a fixture of the Wake Forest community and a historic building on campus. It has not been in use for many years, but is a prime opportunity to expand housing options for our growing student population.

We desire for this historic building which served so many students of Wake Forest College in the past to be a home for future Southeastern students to grow and mature, cementing their call to serve the Church and fulfill the Great Commission.

SIMMONS HALL RENOVATION WILL:
  • Enable Southeastern to add approximately 100 on-campus students each year.

  • Increase the undergraduate student housing capability by 65%.

FOR THE CAUSE

SOUTHEASTERN FUND - $7,500,000

The Southeastern Fund, our annual fund, continuously impacts every aspect of our institution and funds the core of who we are as a Great Commission seminary. Every dollar given to the Southeastern Fund is one less dollar that must be generated through tuition. So every dollar directly impacts every student on campus whether they are pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degrees. These gifts address the school’s most pressing needs and help offset rising tuition for students.

With continued student population growth, we must achieve a 15% year-over-year increase in our annual fund over the duration of the campaign to maintain affordable tuition. The Southeastern Fund is the initiative that sustains our school and ensures the equipping of students for the cause of Christ by providing for the immediate needs of today.

THE SOUTHEASTERN FUND:
  • Offsets tuition for every student.

  • Provides technological upgrades

  • Provides needed facility improvements

  • And more

REALIZING THE MISSION

BECAUSE YOU GIVE, STUDENTS GO!

Southeastern is a place where gifts multiply many times over through the ministries of current students and well-prepared graduates. We could not do this without the consistent, faithful and generous support of gospel partners like you. Join us in sending laborers into the world to share the life-saving good news of Jesus Christ with those who desperately need to hear.
